Service Status
There is no monitored status feed for Forge World Gaming yet, and this page will not pretend to be one. If you are here because something looks broken, what follows is the honest version: why an outage is possible, how to check your own server right now on the game panel, and how to report a problem and what response you can and cannot expect.
There is no status feed yet
Forge World Gaming does not run monitoring and does not publish a status feed. Nothing on this page is checked by a machine, nothing on it updates on its own, and a green or red mark here would mean nothing — so there is none. The Service Terms state it directly: no uptime percentage, no guaranteed response time, no restoration estimate, no compensation or credit for downtime, and no monitoring or status page in this release.
A dashboard that reports all clear with nothing behind it is worse than no dashboard, because it tells you to keep waiting when you should be checking. So this page does the honest version of the job instead: it explains how the service is built, shows you how to see the state of your own server, and tells you how to reach a person and what to expect when you do. Questions that are not about an outage — what a plan includes, billing, backups — are answered on the FAQ.
One machine, and what that means
Forge World Gaming currently operates a single machine, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. There is no failover to a second machine and no secondary region. If that machine is unavailable, your server is unavailable. That is the one architectural fact worth knowing when something stops responding: an outage on this side is possible, and there is no second machine for your server to move to while it lasts.
Two things follow from it:
- Maintenance, reboots and provider-side network events can interrupt service without advance notice. A short interruption is not by itself a fault, and a long one is not being measured for you by anything on this side.
- Included backups are stored on the same infrastructure as your server. They are not off-site and will not survive a failure of that machine, so keep your own copies of worlds, saves and configuration somewhere you control.
Both points are set out in full in the Service Terms.
How to check your own server
Start with your own game panel. Sign in at panel.fwg.world and open your server: the console shows what it last printed, the power controls stop and start it, and the file manager and SFTP show whether your files are where you left them. If the panel loads and the server responds to its controls, the problem is almost certainly inside the server rather than the machine. Rule out the common causes before you call it an outage:
- It stops, or keeps stopping, after a start: read the console, then see why a game server crashes on startup.
- It runs, but players cannot find or reach it: see server not showing in the server list and port forwarding for game servers.
- It connects, but plays badly: see find what is lagging your server.
- You ordered recently and nothing has appeared: setup details or next steps are emailed within 24 hours after payment, so the server may not have been set up yet. That is a ticket, not an outage.
- It was stopped and you did not stop it: check your invoices and your account email at billing.fwg.world. A service can be suspended for non-payment or for a breach of the acceptable-use section of the Service Terms.
If the panel itself will not load, or the server answers no control at all, that looks like a problem on this side — report it, as the next section describes.
How to report an outage
Report it through the ticket desk, so there is a written record on both sides. Support runs on the billing storefront at billing.fwg.world, and the ticket desk needs a Forge World Gaming account — the link at the bottom of this page takes you to it and asks you to sign in or create one first. A good report is short and specific:
- the server name, and the game it runs;
- what you see: the panel not loading, the server not answering a control, players unable to connect;
- roughly when it started, with your time zone;
- anything you changed just before it — a plugin, a mod, a configuration edit, a restart.
Replies come back on the same ticket. There is no guaranteed response time, no estimate of when service returns, and no credit for the time lost; the Service Terms say so, and this page will not soften it. Staff will never ask for your password or panel credentials, and you should never put a password, card number or bank detail in a ticket.
What is not promised
Forge World Gaming does not offer a service-level agreement, and nothing on this page creates one. In plain terms, none of the following is promised:
- an uptime percentage, or any figure for how often the service has been up;
- a guaranteed response time on a ticket;
- an estimate of when service will be restored during an interruption;
- compensation, a credit or a refund for downtime — the Refund Policy has one window, 48 hours on a first order, and downtime is not compensated;
- advance notice of maintenance, reboots or provider-side network events.
The service is provided as it is. This is not written to put you off; it is written so that nothing here can be read as a commitment the Service Terms do not make. If availability guarantees matter to you, read those terms before you build a server, and ask through the ticket desk before you pay rather than after.
If this changes
Monitoring may be added in a later release, or it may not. There is no date and no commitment to give you, and inventing one here would be exactly the kind of statement this page exists to avoid. What can be said is where a change would show up: if monitoring or a status feed is ever put in place, this page is where it would appear.
Until then, the sentence in the Service Terms that says there is no uptime percentage, no guaranteed response time, no restoration estimate, no compensation or credit for downtime, and no monitoring or status page in this release is the accurate description of the service, and the review date at the top of this page is the last date that was confirmed. If this page ever disagrees with the terms, the terms govern, and a ticket pointing out the difference is welcome.
This page describes the service as it runs on the review date above, and the Service Terms govern what is and is not promised.
