A Canadian dollar is worth less than a US dollar, so a price in Canadian dollars comes to fewer US dollars: CA$8.99 is about US$6.32 at the Bank of Canada rate of 1.4222 Canadian dollars per US dollar, observed on 2026-10-13. Your card or payment account converts the charge to US dollars at its own exchange rate, and some cards add a foreign-transaction fee, so your statement can differ a little from that figure.

Comparing a host that charges US dollars? Put its price in Canadian dollars at the latest Bank of Canada rate, with the card fee set to 0, since a US card pays a US host without one. Then remember that any foreign-transaction fee your card charges applies to our Canadian-dollar price, not to theirs.
