Common questions about Terraria hosting
What happens after I pay for a Terraria server?
Payment happens on our secure billing site. Your server is set up automatically after payment and your panel login is emailed to you.
Where are ForgeWorld Gaming Terraria servers hosted?
In Iowa, United States. One region for now, and we say so instead of drawing a map full of flags.
Is there a setup fee or a contract?
No setup fee, and you can cancel any time. Prices are in Canadian dollars; paying from the US, your card or payment account converts the charge to US dollars. On the billing site you see the monthly price of the plan you picked before any payment is taken.
How many players can a Terraria server hold?
Terraria Standard plans are open for orders with 4, 8, 12, 16 or 24 player slots, at CA$8.99–CA$20.49 a month. If you need a different size, email support@fwg.world (no account needed; account holders can also open a ticket) and we confirm what is possible by email.
Does ForgeWorld Gaming let me add mods to a Terraria server?
We do not publish a Terraria mod, plugin, or world-settings list, so we will not promise one here. Email support@fwg.world with what you need for your world and we confirm what is possible by email, before or after you order. No account is needed; account holders can also open a ticket.
What port does the Terraria server use?
TCP 7777 by default, changed with the port setting or the -port switch. On a cloud provider, the Terraria Wiki advises opening 7777 on both TCP and UDP.
What is TShock in Terraria?
A third-party server framework. TShock is a separate server binary for Terraria that adds accounts, permissions, server-side characters and plugins; the vanilla server that ships with the game also runs a private world for friends.
How does the Terraria server save its world?
The world is saved to the world file, and serverconfig.txt holds the server's settings. A TShock server also keeps config.json and tshock.sqlite - the TShock documentation warns that losing tshock.sqlite means setting the server up again from scratch.
Is ForgeWorld Gaming based in Canada, and where does the Terraria server run?
ForgeWorld Gaming operates from Canada and bills in Canadian dollars, with no conversion added on our side. The Terraria server runs in Iowa, United States, currently our only region.
