In Iowa, United States. One region for now, and we say so instead of drawing a map full of flags.

Is there a setup fee or a contract?

No setup fee, and you can cancel any time. Prices are in Canadian dollars; paying from the US, your card or payment account converts the charge to US dollars. On the billing site you see the monthly price of the plan you picked before any payment is taken.

How many players can a Minecraft server hold?

Minecraft Standard plans are open for orders as Paper or Vanilla servers with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48 or 56 player slots, or Forge servers with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48, at CA$15.89–CA$65.99 a month. If you need a different size, email support@fwg.world (no account needed; account holders can also open a ticket) and we confirm what is possible by email.

Can I install mods or plugins on my Minecraft server?

The Paper world is listed as plugin-ready Java hosting. We also sell separate Forge and Vanilla worlds: Forge for running a modpack, and Vanilla for the official server with nothing added. Checkout asks you to accept the Mojang EULA, which Mojang requires before a server can start. For a specific plugin, mod, or world setting, email support@fwg.world with what you need (no account needed; account holders can also open a ticket) and we confirm what is possible by email.

Should the Minecraft server run Paper, Vanilla or Forge?

It depends what you want to add. Vanilla is the game exactly as shipped, Paper adds plugin support, and Forge runs mods - PaperMC's documentation notes a Forge or Fabric mod will not run on Paper, so the content you want decides the fork.

Which Java version does the Minecraft server need?

PaperMC publish the pairing: Java 17 for versions 1.17 through 1.19, Java 21 for 1.20 through 1.21.11, and Java 25 for 26.1 and later. Unsupported or early access Java builds are not supported.

Why would the Minecraft server stop right after it starts?

Usually because it just created eula.txt and is waiting for the Minecraft EULA to be accepted. PaperMC describe accepting that file as required to run the server.
